Hong Kong Harbour at Night
Hong Kong, my favorite city in the world to visit
Hong Kong is one of the most exotic cities in the world. My stewardess friend who used to fly that route said she loved smelling the warm humidity of Hong Kong even before she opened the plane's doors.
It's said that Hong Kong is like taking Manhattan and setting it in San Francisco. I would add, then place it all in a lush subtropical port.
More than any other city, to me, this is the Orient: exotic aromas, exotic peoples, exotic climate - a city teeming with people of another culture, actually many cultures. Add to that, the strong remnants of its British colonial heritage and you get endless fascination with the sights and sounds of a faraway adventure.
It's also a place where East meets West and where Old meets New. Even before it became, "One Nation, Two Systems," Hong Kong was an economic powerhouse and remains the largest container port in the world.

Exotic Hong Kong:
One of the great memories I have of Hong Kong is the night our hosts chartered a yacht for an evening cruise to one of the islands in the South China Sea for dinner at an open air restaurant.
Imagine standing on the bow of the boat with the balmy breezes of the Orient filling the air, transfixed by the stunning lights of the city reflected off rolling swells of black seawater. Perfect.
This video is a poor substitute for the authentic expericence of Hong Kong Harbour at night but all that I could find.
